Welcome to our Resource Classroom! Here, we encourage a growth mindset; we are capable of doing many things and it is only our inability to persevere that is our limit. The Finnish word sisu (our inner fire to practice strength in the face of great odds) is what we nurture. Our goal is to close the learning gap your child has and we do that through a variety of ways. Students come to the Resource Classroom during the intervention times for Dolphin Math, Dolphin Reading and if needed, during a portion of the grade level writing periods
Loving learning is a great way to summarize me! I am always reading, taking classes and meeting with colleagues to discover better ways to support the learning of students.
I was born in Michigan, but I have lived in Arizona for the past 30 years. I am married and have 2 amazing kids; our daughter is presently living in CA doing an internship with the CDC (that can be scary, though informative, at times) and our son is in his second year at CGCC.
I know the struggles of having a child who needs to learn in a different way as our son had a stroke at the age of 8 and we had (and still continue) to remap his brain in a myriad of ways. I understand the hours that it takes at home to work through homework and provide additional learning and believe with all my heart that the success of a child is the school and home working together to support all aspects of learning. Neither one can do the job alone. There is an old saying that it takes a village to raise a child; together, we can move what might seem the impossible. I look forward to our journey together!
