Mrs. Lee Meschino
In General Music class students learn about rhythm, melody, harmony, texture, form and style. We learn it through singing, moving, playing instruments, listening, reading, and writing. We're often noisy :-) wiggly :-) messy:-) thoughtful :-) and creative :-) We make mistakes - musical and otherwise.
We call them "variations." Number 1 rule? Don't forget to sing in the shower!
I fell in love with music by playing the flute and singing in choir. My parents made me take piano lessons too. I am forever grateful.
I have a B.S. in music education from Mansfield University (Pennsylvania), a Masters in Music from ASU, and a Principal Certificate in Educational Leadership from NAU. I am National Board Certified in Early and MIddle Childhood Music
and have extensive training in Orff Schulwerk (an approach to music education steeped in language and creativity) and the Kodaly approach (lots of singing and ear training.) This is my 35th year of teaching and 30th year at Islands Elementary.
